The place is suitable for any type of outdoor activity related to mountains and snow such as skiing, mountain climbing, or hiking in areas of the Alps accessible to tourists. You can swim in mountain streams, stop to fish in glacier-fed rivers filled with salmon and trout. Tramping is one of the most popular and varied year-round activities in the Southern Alps. Bushwalk through rainforests, over breathtaking peaks or around beautiful lakes. Cyclists are spoiled for choice in the Southern Alps, with hundreds of quiet roads and dirt tracks to choose from. Be careful though, some roads are not accessible to cyclists, so be sure to ask!
